Preventive & Restorative Dentistry
As family dentists, Dr. Brunner, Dr. Schwartz, Dr. Jahimiak and Dr. Neuschaefer offer a comprehensive menu of preventive and restorative dentistry. We group these two topics together because prevention is an important part of our plan to deter your need for restorative dental care. We recommend that all of our patients from age 5 to 105 visit us at least twice each year for a thorough exam and professional cleaning.
Comprehensive Exams
In your exam, Dr. Brunner, Dr. Schwartz, Dr. Jahimiak or Dr. Neuschaefer will look for signs of tooth decay using our Spectra Camera, a digital imaging system that accurately finds cavities in the earliest stage, called demineralization. Children might need dental sealants to ward off decay. We will also assess your gums for signs of gum disease or oral cancer. A tooth-by-tooth exam of your existing dental work may reveal worn fillings or crowns that need replacement. If you suffer with chronic headaches, we might try non-surgical TMJ therapy to get you some relief.
By finding these kinds of problems when they first arise, we can treat them conservatively. If left untreated, the conditions will only worsen to create painful, costly problems that could compromise your overall health.
Professional Hygiene Department
At your professional cleaning, our hygienist will gently and thoroughly remove plaque buildup from your teeth. By ridding your teeth of plaque twice a year, you'll take a step toward deterring gum disease, which often starts with irritation caused by hardened plaque and decaying food particles. If we find that you have gingivitis or another stage of gum disease, we'll recommend appropriate periodontal therapy. Your teeth will feel silky smooth and look sparkly clean after a shine and polish at your cleaning visit.
